The Bridal Shower

Well, today was my amazingly beautiful bridal shower. I knew ahead of time that the bridal shower was taking place today...but the location was a secret. It was my last Saturday to sleep in before I had to start getting up early again to teach art classes. I was all set to sleep in until 9 or 10...wouldn't you know...I was up and WIDE AWAKE at 6:00 am!!! I was so excited that I could not fall back asleep.
Last night, as I was walking into the house and thinking about everything that today would bring, it hit me. It was finally my turn! I have been a part of planning so many bridal showers and have attended, as a guest, more than I can count. Now, I get to attend a bridal shower, thrown for me, as the BRIDE! And I wonder why I couldn't sleep in... :)
This morning, I decided to go get a manicure and pedicure in Skippack to help pass the time. Doug told me that I didn't need to be ready until about 3:30...so I had a lot of time to kill. I grabbed some lunch and then gave myself plenty of time to get ready.
I decided to wear a dress that I had ordered from J-Crew. My girlfriend, Rachel, and I were shopping their site one day at work and we saw a HUGE end-of-the-summer sale. I saw this dress marked down 75% and decided to take a chance. I guessed on my size and it ended up fitting perfectly. It is such a fun dress! The only problem is that it takes FOREVER to get into! There’s a built-in corset that needs to be hooked and then a zipper and then these tiny little cap buttons and then a bow in the back. VERY COMPLICATED! :)
So, Doug showed up at my house around 3:30 to take me to the location. He thought it would be a good idea to blindfold me so that I would really have NO CLUE where I was going. I put the blindfold on as soon as we got into the car. (For once, I wasn’t able to be a back-seat driver). We arrived at the location, and Doug escorted me through the door. I could hear everyone whispering and talking and I was DYING to take the blindfold off. When I did, I realized that we were at the Tea Room in Lederach, right outside of Skippack. My Mom and I go here quite often for breakfast and it is the cutest little place! It looked absolutely AMAZING inside!!! There was a big buffet table in the middle with rose petals and candles scattered all over. The food looked so yummy! They had little sandwiches filled with turkey, hummus, veggies, ham and tuna. There was also a HUGE bowl of grilled veggies and the best chocolate covered strawberries EVER! It was perfect!
After Doug and I both said hello to everyone, Doug went out with the boys and I sat down and started eating. My Aunt Kristin ended up running the show and had this fun game planned. She had contacted Doug a few weeks prior to the shower and asked him to fill out all of these questions. She asked him what he thought my favorite color was, when our first kiss was, what we like to do for fun…
Then, everyone had to answer the questions based on how they think DOUG answered. I ended up doing pretty well! (THANK GOD!)
We opened presents after the games and everyone was SO generous! Just about everything was from our registries and I even got a few pieces of lingerie (yay!) :)
I can’t believe how fast the day went! Thinking back on it is a blur and it is only a few hours after the event! I can only imagine how quickly our wedding day will go! This was the very first time that I was able to have everyone that I love and that means so much to me in one room together. It was really cool looking at everyone together…FOR ME!
I wish that I could do it all over again! Guess I’ll just have to wait until December!

~Only 3 months and 7 days left!!!!!!!
